Coney's Gotcha Day..........20 Feb 1998

Coney came to live with us in February 1998. We took him on at the age of five years from a neighbour who could no longer look after him.

He had been pushed from pillar to post and we were his fourth home at least.

When he first came to us, he was very confused - he hated being left alone and would often chew-up various items around the home. Loud noises would make him flinch and he hated raised voices. He wasn’t too keen on being brushed and couldn’t stand being shut in any one room without company.

After a few months he started to calm down and began to really enjoy his new life and his new family. A lot of time, caring and persistence paid off and made Coney a wonderful dog.

Very soon his life was totally in order and revolved around ‘walkies’, ‘dinner’ and ‘biscuits’ - three things that brought a bigger smile to an already smiley Sammy face. We may have missed out on Coney’s puppyhood but we would not change a thing.

 Coney's Poem

You came to me so unexpected
A little unsure and not respected
We took our time and taught each other
What it is to trust another

Your past was bad but your future is bright
You'll stay with me both day and night
Trust and thought that was the key
And now you give your love to me

Gone the people in your past
Forgotten their love that did not last

You'll stay with me until the end
         Strong and graceful smiling friend.
